Crawfish Paloosa at Southport! On Saturday, May 22, 2024, the '66 Class enjoyed seeing each other again as well as eating plenty of Crawfish at the storied Southport Hall which was also the first venue of our 50 Year Reunion in 2016. Southport Hall, April15, 2016 The DJ played all the classics from Elvis, to the Temptations, to Diana Ross & the Supremes, to those guys from over the pond. The 'endless' food was unbelievably good. The highlight of the evening was the special tribute to those in our class who served or are currently serving in the armed forces and as first responders. Lee Greenwood's "I'm Proud to be an American Where at Least I Know I'm Free", "God Bless the USA" . played in the background. Special moment. Class of 1966 Celebrates Birthday over Two Days That Fortier High School Class of 1966 was at it again celebrating their 70th. birthday Saturday April 7, 2018 with a "you should have been there supper" at the Heritage Grill in Metairie, followed Sunday, April 8th. with a beautiful brunch at the Chateau Country Club in Kenner. Attendance was terrific with approximately 60 on Saturday night and 50 Sunday. Bruce Hirsch and Karen Smith continue to be outstanding hosts. Bruce gave a rousing welcome speech Saturday evening and Karen was her usual vivacious self meeting everybody as they came in and catching up. Saturday night's festivities were topped off with a special Silver & Blue Birthday Cake. Thanks to Dvosha Goldberg for the special cake. Brunch at Chateau, April 17, 2016 With close to 90 people attending Sunday Brunch, we had a chance to socialize for a few more hours. Fortier grads have great staying power considering that most had been up pretty late the two previous nights at Southport Hall and Chateau's Ball Room visiting and dancing the night away. From all the smiles below you can tell there was plenty left in the gas tank for this group. Phyllis Cohen Allison worked with the Chateau staff to make both the meal and the atmosphere fit for a queen. Our supper March 23rd. at Porter & Luke's on Metairie Rd was attended by 52 strong including spouses and friends. The buffet was great and everyone had a wonderful time. We also got to see a few friends we hadn't seen in a while. Crawfish Boil Held Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Southport Hall Our class held a Crawfish Boil Sunday, April, 2, 2017, at Southport Hall, site of our meet-n-greet from last year's 50-Year Reunion. The time she does fly yeah Cher. The event was well attended with classmates coming in from North Carolina and Texas and "locally" from Amite and all points Nawlins. Southport Hall did a great job with the boiled crawfish, potatoes, sausage, and corn-on-the-cob as can been seen in the happy faces below. Our class photographer Miles Mark did another outstanding job. Leah and Paul Eskine, now that's one happy couple. Paul's probably thinking, "Coach Richard, I couldn't run a lap right now much less make it wide."
